A global fund manager approached Bluewood Training to help improve their spokespeople’s performance during high-pressure TV interviews. While they had some experience on-air, their messaging often got lost in fast-paced, wide-ranging discussions on platforms like CNBC and Bloomberg. The communications team recognised the need for more structured preparation and expert coaching to help deliver clear, confident commentary under pressure.
We worked closely with the client to identify specific concerns and knowledge gaps, including interview nerves, message clarity, and on-camera presence. From there, we designed a highly practical coaching programme including one-to-one and small group sessions. These were structured around real-world media scenarios and focused on financial messaging, live broadcast dynamics, and handling reactive questions.
The training covered broadcast media essentials—from how TV news programmes are constructed to the expectations of journalists. Spokespeople were coached on building key messages, using bridging techniques, managing nerves, and delivering with clarity and authority. Filmed role-plays were used throughout to simulate realistic scenarios, followed by immediate feedback to reinforce learning and build confidence.
Post-training, the fund manager’s spokespeople demonstrated a marked improvement in both their technical delivery and message control. They became more comfortable with fast-paced interviews and were able to communicate complex financial insights clearly. The sessions also ensured that all messaging aligned with brand positioning, resulting in a stronger, more credible presence on major financial media platforms.
